Classic Fallout Titles May Return to Steam; Fallout 4 Still Unconfirmed
When several classic titles in the Fallout franchise were pulled off the Steam store, several fans were upset, but now Bethesda has stated that it will work to bring the games back to the store so players can continue to buy the older games in the legendary series.
At the end of 2013, Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics were all taken off the Steam store, meaning that while players who already owned the game could still play it, people looking to buy the games would no longer be able to. This was due to licensing agreements for the game being changed, similar to the recent takedown of several Marvel titles from online stores. Bethesda has stated on Twitter, however, that it will be working to get these early entries in the Fallout series back on Steam sometime soon.
"We're working to return classic Fallout games (1, 2, Tactics) to Steam and will provide an update when they're ready to go," wrote Bethesda on Twitter.
This is good news for fans of the Fallout series that are looking to explore the beginning of the franchise and different places within the universe of the game. That being said, many fans would much rather hear news about Fallout 4; Bethesda will not even confirm that the game is in development. However, some alleged documents that were leaked by an unknown source confirmed that the game is being worked on by Bethesda, if the documents are indeed real. Fallout 4 has been heavily rumored to take place in Boston, but besides that not much is known about the game so far. Nonetheless, fans are already buzzing about the game and eagerly await any and all information concerning the game, even if some of the alleged news about the game ends up being a hoax.
While Fallout 4 may be years away from being released, if Bethesda is working on the game in secret, hopefully the company is able to bring the trilogy of classic Fallout titles back on Steam in the near future. While an exact timetable is not available for when the company will be able to bring back the games to PC users, guessing from the popularity of the series Bethesda will not waste time releasing the games again.
