iPad Pro Review: Users Complain of App Store, Screen blackout & Other Issues
The iPad Pro was recently released earlier this month but it has already received negative reviews from its users mostly complaining about the performance of the new Apple release.
According to The Verge, the device still runs on mobile software despite its power and capabilities.
"[Developers] feel they wouldn't be able to charge users the amounts they normally would for a version of their software that runs on a desktop," added the same report.
Some told The Verge that they cannot offer free trials for their applications because of the App Store download process. There are others who claimed that putting their applications on the App Store "create a kind of wall between them and their customers if the customers have issues with their software."
Bohemian Coding co-founder Emanuel Sa, the genius behind the app Sketch, said the company purposely did not create a version for the iPad Pro.
"Yes, it has a beautiful screen, but there's more to consider. Apps on iOS sell for unsustainably low prices due to the lack of trials. We cannot port Sketch to the iPad if we have no reasonable expectation of earning back on our investment," Sa explained in The Verge report.
Meanwhile, Apple Insider noted that users have also complained about the iPad Pro "suddenly going black and refusing to accept touch or button input." It noted that the company has already offered a solution to the glitch.
"This involves holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds or more until the Apple logo appears onscreen," the same report added. Apple is also reportedly looking into the problem though it has not yet revealed any updates on their investigation.
Meanwhile, TechTimes said users of the tablet also complained of their devices shutting off and not responding while charging.
"At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed. When I woke up it was "dead". It wouldn't wake up. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life. Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand. Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day. Came back to it, same thing. Dead. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to turn on," said user darkfire.shadows in an Apple discussion thread.
On the other hand, there were also some who experienced problems when using the Spotify app. "The Spotify app opens to the splash page and hangs there indefinitely. At this page, the home button stops working (ie. it won't return me to the home screen)," TechTimes quoted an iPad user as saying.
The user also added the device had to be locked with the power button and unlocked for users to reach the home screen.
