'NBA 2K16' Available For Free This Weekend Exclusively for Gold Members
Xbox One owners with a Gold membership subscription will be given a chance to play "NBA 2K16" for free this weekend.
TechTimes said that this is part of Microsoft's Xbox Live Gold Free Play Days which will start from Friday (Nov. 20) at 9 a.m. until Sunday (Nov. 22) at 11:59 p.m.
The company said that they are hoping Xbox Live Gold members will play and enjoy the game this weekend and "buy the full experience."
"We're excited to announce that all Xbox Live Gold members can enjoy the critically acclaimed 'NBA 2K16' for free this entire upcoming weekend with Xbox Live Gold's Free Play Days," Microsoft was quoted by TechTimes as saying.
Meanwhile, Polygon noted that the game will be offered at a discounted price to the public during and after the free-play offering to enable players to continue their progress in the game.
"All game save files will carry over, and buying the game will not require a redownload of it. That's good, as 'NBA 2K16' is a 44.86 GB download on Xbox One," added the same report.
"NBA 2K16" is tagged as the highest-rating sports video game by Metacritic and is tied at the top spot with Pro Evolution Soccer 2016.
Released last September, "NBA 2K16" was able to sell 4 million copies in just a week, said GameSpot. But the same report said it has yet to level the success of its predecessor, "NBA 2K15," which shipped 7 million copies. The same report indicated gave the gamea rating of 8/10.
"Few sports games come close to providing a more authentic and fun virtual representation of the real thing, and even if this is the least user-friendly entry in years, I can't stop playing it," reviewer Josiah Renaudin explained.
On the other hand, IGN gave the game a 9.0 rating highlighting that it has greatly improved "defensive AI, online stability, and overall polish."
"Developer Visual Concepts continues to raise the sports simulation bar by completely retooling its silky-smooth gameplay, adding brand-new physics systems, and refining its traditional game modes," added the same report.
It also mentioned that even though the game changes did not work well with the other features of the game, it did not affect the overall performance of the game.
The latest NBA 2K game became available for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC users. Mobile and tablet users can also download the free app called MyNBA 2K16 on Google Play and iTunes.
