'Final Fantasy 7' Remake Trailer, News & Release Date: Game to Launch on the Nintendo NX? [Rumors]
Recent rumors are claiming that Square Enix's "Final Fantasy VII" remake will head to the Nintendo NX.
Nintendo has been mum about its next-generation gaming console, but expected titles launching on the NX are already making rounds, Tech Times reported. Nintendo and Square Enix had disagreements in the past when the latter chose to collaborate with Sony during the PlayStation 1 and N64 era.
Square Enix's "Dragon Quest X" launching exclusively on Nintendo's Wii U seemed to have patched the issues between the two companies, Tech Times wrote. Square Enix also mentioned that the upcoming "Dragon Quest XI" could probably head to the NX. In addition, there are speculations that "Final Fantasy XIV: Realm Reborn" will land on the Nintendo next-gen console when Square Enix's Naoki Yoshida inquired about the NX's release date and cross-platform capability.
On top of it all, it was announced in a Nintendo Direct event that Cloud Strife of "Final Fantasy VII" will head to "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U and 3DS, the news outlet further reported. With these developments, it's highly likely that fans will get to play the "Final Fantasy VII" remake on the NX, though it is expected to launch on the PlayStation 4 first.
Note that these are all speculations at the moment and Square Enix and Nintendo are yet to confirm the rumors.
New Musical Score & Battle System for 'Final Fantasy VII' Remake
This month, IGN reported that the remake will not feature an updated score from well-known composer, Nobuo Uematsu. This was revealed by Jeuxvideo when Uematsu was asked in an interview via livestream if he would be working on the remake of "Final Fantasy VII," which was announced at this year's E3 and is expected to be released in December 2016.
Uematsu has composed majority of the original scores for the "Final Fantasy" series and in plenty of other classic Square games, IGN noted.
Executive producer Shinji Hashimoto confirmed that the game is not just a simple remaster of the original PlayStation RPG. According to IGN's report, Square Enix is currently working on the game's visual direction, and that the developer is experimenting with a new battle system in order to update the old turn-based combat.
Director Tetsuya Nomura previously said that the game's combat system will showcase "dramatic changes," but they want to make sure "it's still recognizable," according to a separate report from IGN.
Nomura also mentioned that "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children," the "Final Fantasy VII" companion film he directed in 2005, will serve as a source of inspiration for designing the remake's visuals, GamesRadar reported.
