Presidential Elections 2016: President Barack Obama Thinks Running Against Donald Trump Would Have Been 'Fun'
President Barack Obama's term of office might overcome next year, but Obama's work is still far from done. He said that he and his administration are still looking into executive actions on guns. Obama also added that he would have loved to run against the notorious presidential candidate, Donald Trump.
"I would've enjoyed campaigning against Trump. That would've been fun," Obama said of the outspoken presidential hopeful in an interview with GQ Magazine.
Obama also added that his administration has already taken 23 separate actions following the tragic 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, in which 26 people were killed. It is considered to be the second worst shooting in U.S. history.
There were also other revelations during the GQ Magazine interview. Obama had also compared himself to American football player Aaron Rodgers, who is the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers. He said that both he and the quarterback are similar in a sense that they both don't get flustered in what was around them.
He also added that while he did watch HBO's "Game of Thrones" he did find it hard to keep track of all the character's names. When asked what GOT character Trump was most like, Obama only jokingly added that he did not want to "go there".
The President of the United States also added that he would love to be the commissioner of a basketball team. On a more serious note, he added that his last year in office was going to focus more on gun control and implementing laws that would prevent tragedies such as Sandy Hook from ever happening again. He added that it was disturbing that people would just go through a brief mourning period that would last 48 to 72 hours before going on with their lives. He added that would take it into account that he would make sure that there is nothing but sustained attention towards gun control.
The Washington Post reported that Obama said that he was aware that his children, Malia and Sasha were already growing up and that it was only inevitable that he was not the "coolest person" in their lives anymore. Like any parent, he admitted that it was just something that people would have to eventually accept.
He also added that his favorite conspiracy theory by far was that some military exercises ordered by the Obama administration in Texas were designed to start martial law so that he could usurp the Constitution and stay in power longer.
