'Wonder Woman' Movie News, Filming & Cast: First Look at Chris Pine as Steve Trevor [Photo]
A photo of "Star Trek" actor Chris Pine on the set of Warner Bros. Studios' "Wonder Woman" where he would play the heroine's love interest has emerged in the most unusual way possible.
Over the weekend, a photo of Pine dressed in what looks like a classic version of Steve Trevor was posted on Instagram with the caption: "Let's do this..! #working #newfilm #thankgodforeverything #alhamdoulilah #maroc #tamazirt."
For those who were not able to follow updates about the actor's upcoming projects, he was selected to play Wonder Woman's love interest Steve Trevor per a July report from The Wrap.
He would be starring alongside Gal Gadot who would be playing the female superhero.
While the post seemed to have been removed, Den of Geek was able to get a screen shot of the image. Check it out here.
In the "Wonder Woman" movie, Pine would be portraying a U.S. Air Force pilot who is nursed back to health by the Amazon Princess Diana after he was injured when he crash-landed onto Themyscira.
According to his profile posted in Comic Vine, an attack by one of Ares' minions had resulted to the crash of the USAF pilot's test flight.
In the image, he sports a World War era outfit alongside French actor Saïd Taghmaoui who the website Bleeding Cool believes would play a superhero based on a statement he made in an interview with the French magazine Ultra.
"I'll be playing a superhero, but details are still under wraps so I can't tell you much," he explained per a translated quote posted in the website.
Official updates from Warner Bros. about the new cast member as well as production seem to have been lacking for the past few months.
However, the revelation of the new cast member as well as the first look at how Wonder Woman's leading man would look like is big enough news to get fans of the DC Extended Universe exhilarated even if the film is not due in theaters until June 23, 2017.
Past rumors cited by The Wrap claimed that A-list actress Nicole Kidman has been in talks with Warner Bros. to join the film though it seems unlikely since the movie's filming schedule is in conflict with her other major project, HBO's "Big Little Lies" where she stars alongside Reese Witherspoon.
Gal Gadot would be debuting as "Wonder Woman" in the DC Cinematic Universe film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" due in theaters on March 23, 2016.
