'Red Dead Redemption 2' News, Trailer & Release: Rockstar Games Hints At 2016 Release Date and New Gaming Modes?
Fans are hopeful that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be released in 2016.
A source from Cyberland revealed that developer Rockstar Games is "currently finalizing their plans for 'GTAV' and they are going to focus on 'RDR2' now. Rockstar expects the game to be out by October next year as long as the devs doesn't hit any road blocks during development," CrossMap reported.
A Reddit user named AnonDN1978 also claimed that the installment will have a multiplayer game called gang mode and that the follow-up will be titled "'Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West," CrossMap added. The Reddit user added that Rockstar has been working on the sequel for 3 and 1/2 years now.
In December 2014, Rockstar Games said that they are not rushing when it comes to producing sequels for their video games.
The post read, "It's wonderful to see so much excitement and enthusiasm for the 'Red Dead' series, and nearly 5 years after 'Red Dead Redemption's' release. As we've mentioned when asked in the past about new games in other series such as 'Red Dead Redemption,' 'Bully,' and 'L.A. Noire,' we don't always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won't get to them eventually. We have so many games we want to make and the issue is always one of bandwidth and timing. We thank longtime fans such as yourselves as always for your amazing support and please stay tuned in 2015 for announcements of what's to come from Rockstar Games."
Rockstar San Diego seemed to clarify the game being a franchise when the developer announced that they are hiring a total of 37 new employees for the development of the new "Red Dead" game. They are looking for programmers, artists, systems administrators, animators, engineers, technical designers, and producers, among others, a separate report from CrossMap listed.
Take Two Interactive CEO Straus Zelnick said in the most recent Cowen and Company analyst conference that "Red Dead" is going to be a franchise, the news outlet added. There are also rumors claiming that the sequel will feature the story of Jack, John Marston's vengeful son, and will reportedly head to all present generation consoles, such as PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Microsoft to Bring 'Red Dead Redemption' to Next-Gen Console
Just recently, Microsoft announced that it is working on bringing "Red Dead Redemption" to the Xbox One after the technological breakthrough of the backwards compatibility.
Microsoft engineer Richard Irving told Eurogamer that they are discussing with their publishers, developer partners, and Rockstar about delivering the game to next-gen consoles.
