SuperSmash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS & Wii U: Cloud Strife Joins Roster in Final Nintendo Direct Game? [Rumors]
'Final Fantasy VII's' Cloud Strife will reportedly be joining the roster in the highly anticipated 'Super Smash Bros 4' game. The multiplayer fighting game has been known for throwing in non-Nintendo fighters into the mix.
In a report with Polygon, Nintendo had returned to hosting its series of Nintendo Direct announcements for the first time since last summer. Nintendo also announced that December will mark the final broadcast for Super Smash Bros. on gaming consoles Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
This was to be Nintendo's first Direct video without the charismatic president Satoru Iwata, who passed away earlier in July of this year. Nintendo made a series of announcements that sent waves of euphoria through many Nintendo fans all around the world.
One of the announcements that was met with many seals of approval was that 'Final Fantasy VII' hero Cloud Strife will be joining the roster for the fourth installment of 'Super Smash Bros.' The fighting game, which sees a collision of the characters in the Nintendo-verse has had three Directs dedicated to it. The last installment was a pre-E3 event in June introduced the new characters Lucas, Ryu and Roy to its roster of new characters. The recent announcement, however doesn't spell out the end of Super Smash Bros. from Nintendo. It just means that broadcasts about that game are coming to an end starting next month, Polygon further reports.
Non-Nintendo characters like Sonic The Hedgehog from Sega making an appearance in a Nintendo game used to be something out of the ordinary. But "Super Smash Bros 4" has not been afraid to step out of the box and allow fighters from different gaming universes come into play. Nintendo has included Sonic, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Ryu and Cloud thus far. Nintendo will most likely add more familiar faces from other consoles. The recently created "Fighter Ballot" also gives gamers a chance to throw in their own suggestions which character they want to see added to the game, Pop Sci reports.
The "Fighter Ballot" was created back in April by "Super Smash Bros." game director Masahiro Sakurai and his team. The stipulation was that the future fighters must be from a video game. The "Fighter Ballot" was taken down Oct. 3. With this in mind, it is most likely that Nintendo fans will expect more third-party crossovers in the upcoming games.
As of this moment, it is expected that there will be more third-party additions to the game.
