Best Songs of 2015 In One Video: DJ Daniel Kim Creates ‘Pop Danthology’ [VIDEO]
Two months before the year ends, Canadian DJ Daniel Kim released his annual musical mashup on Tuesday, featuring the most popular songs of 2015. This year, he created two mind-blowing roundups that hit the airwaves for the past 12 months.
The "Pop Danthology" series was one of the most awaited mashups every year since it became a viral hit in 2010. As this year's music scene has its full glory, according to MTV, the DJ has to create two separate parts of the remix.
"With music from all over the world becoming more and more accessible, it has become increasingly more challenging to satisfy my fans and fit in all of their many favourite songs in my year-end mashup," he wrote on his Canadian Kim website. "I found myself cutting down so much of the original musical pieces just to "jam" in as many songs as I could."
The mashup has a total of 82 songs from different artists, part one has 45 singles on it while the part two features 37 tracks. However, as it has too many tunes on it, it was quite longer than usual; the extended versions can be heard on Kim's SoundCloud page.
"Both tracks are like a dizzying sugar rush to the head, packed with sliced-up Top 40 hits that will make you relive the stellar year in pop music."
He described his remixes as: "My mashup style closely resembles the style of our popular music that you hear on the radio. It is clean and simple. I try to hold back on giving my listeners too many different sounds all at once," Kim wrote on his page.
"I want my listeners to be able to easily follow and sing along to the lead vocal or instrumental melody [like a concerto]. My Danthologies are the "pop" of the mashup genre."
Moreover, TIME reported, the Danthology featured the new singles of Adele's "Hello" and Justin Bieber's "What Do You Mean." Even in the remix, Taylor Swift dominated as three of her singles; "Style," "Bad Blood," and "Wildest Dreams," were included.
Selena Gomez came next with two of her melodies, "Good For You" and "Same Old Love," too, her collaboration with Zedd, "I Want You To Know." Other stars who appeared on the mashup were Madonna, Fetty Wap, Drake, Ariana Grande, Adam Lambert, Carly Rae Jepson, Ellie Goulding, Flo Rida, The Weeknd, Demi Lovato and Drake, as well as 2015 breakout acts like Tove Lo, Charlie Puth, Walk The Moon.
