'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 Spoilers: Fan-Favorite Villain To Return to Show?
Cruella De Vil has proven that people really should be scared of her, because despite going over a cliff in ABC's "Once Upon A Time", she's returning to Storybrooke in a comeback episode in Season 5.
In a report by Entertainment Weekly, Victoria Smurfit, who portrayed the fur-loving villain, is back for a multi-episode arc just after the spring premiere. Easily a fan favorite, her demise at the end of season 4 met a lot of outrage from fans, which means that it may be a good thing she's back for another round.
But what happens when she returns on Season 5B? Will she be out for revenge even though Emma accidentally killed her, or is she going to be courting the devilish Hades, who will be making an appearance in the show as well? This could actually fit nicely into the theory that OUAT will be visiting Hell in the second half of the season, as pointed out by TV Guide. There could also be the possibility, as Hypable pointed out, that the Queens of Darkness can have their own mini-reunion, considering the fact that Lily and Maleficent are still alive somewhere on the show, but that remains to be seen.
However, it has already been pointed out that unlike many familiar faces making their way for the upcoming 100-episode mark, Cruella will not be making an appearance on the landmark episode.
There has been no news about the show's renewal for another season, and according to TV By The Numbers, the show hasn't been faring well this season. According to the outlet, the show, at this time last year, has been averaging 2.78 same-day rating in the 18-49 age bracket and this year, it's only been drawing close to 1.63.
However, that doesn't mean that the network is dropping the show, considering its consistency this season, opening at 1.8 and going no lower that a 1.5 rating, putting it just under the scripted average for the network. Cruella's return, meanwhile, could do the show a lot of good considering how audience embraced her character in the past.
In other Cruella De Vil news, let's not forget that Disney is said to be fast-tracking the live-action film starring the villain, with screenwriter Kelly Marcel in charge of the script, along with "Togetherness" co-creator Steve Zissis. It is likely that the Cruella De Vil movie will follow in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie's "Maleficent", where the villain was humanized.
"Once Upon A Time" will be back for episodes 8 and 9 on Sunday, November 15 on ABC.
