'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Cast, Trailer & Updates: Newly Released International Trailer Reveal Rey's Familial Connections to Original Characters
The newly released international trailer of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" contains indirect confirmation of fan theories about the family ties of Daisy Ridley's character.
Fans of the intergalactic saga are surprised not only by the release of a new trailer but also by what it contains: Rey's relationship to some of the franchise's original characters.
The footage uploaded in YouTube shows Rey and BB-8 in the middle of an exchange where an unidentified female voice declares, "I know all about waiting... for my family."
Cheat Sheet believes that it was Rey (Ridley) who said those words which reignites speculations that she is the wayward daughter of Han Solo and Leia Organa.
For those who missed it, a previous report from Latino Post cited Radio Times when it down reasons why Rey and Kylo Ren are the twins born from Han Solo and Princess Leia's love.
According to the outlet, Jacen and Jaina Solo have always been separated from their parents in order to protect them from those who would bring them harm.
Radio Times cited a trend in revealing the parents of some characters that usually occur in the Star Wars Expanded Universe may be happening in this year's "The Force Awakens."
"The first films introduced us to Luke Skywalker and his sister Leia Organa and the prequels introduced us to their parents, Anakin and Padme, so why wouldn't the sequels catch up with their children?" the report explained.
Screen Rant backs this up by deeming it an even bigger surprise "if none of the youngsters ended up being a Skywalker or Solo," something that Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy had confirmed in a previous report from the outlet.
"The Saga films focus on the Skywalker family saga. The stories follow a linear narrative that connects to the previous six films. The Force Awakens follows Return of the Jedi and continues that generational story," she explained.
Radio Times further noted that since threats have been taken against the Solo twins, they have both have been sent away with only droids to watch over them which, in Rey's case, might be BB-8.
The TV spot also revealed how John Boyega's character, Finn, meets Rey after he crash-landed in Jakku following his escape from the New Order.
He is then tracked by soldiers of the New Order who burns down Rey's village during their search.
Han and Chewbacca then come to their rescue while manning the Millenium Falcon which launches their involvement in the fray.
