iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus Release Date & Price: Third Model Underway? Top 10 Specs & Features to Watch Out For [Rumors]
Fans and iPhone enthusiasts are now waiting for the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus' release next year. And, even though there are no concrete details about the forthcoming high-tech phones, there are too many assumptions and rumors about what these handheld mobiles will bring.
According to BGR, the technology company is aiming to develop its own touch and display driver or TDDI chips, so they can finally remove their home button without sacrificing its functional abilities. Unfortunately, Apple has a very limited time to expand the new technology and will use Synaptics displays instead for their upcoming flagship phone.
However, their last option might not bring a total design change for iPhone 7 like the earlier reports said. DigiTimes reported that Apple has already placed their orders for LCD driver IC for their 2016 iPhones with Synaptics.
"The development of Apple's in-house developed TDDI solutions has fallen behind schedule, as the smartphone vendor has released orders for its 2016 models to Synaptics," the sources told the Taiwanese publication. After acquiring Renesas SP Drivers [RSP] and in spite of the rumors that the leading mobile company will reduce its reliance with the human interface developer, Synaptics has been reportedly trying their best to maintain Apple's purchases.
"Apple is already engaged in the development of TDDI solutions after hiring senior engineers from Renesas, previous reports quoted industry sources as saying," the sources added. "Instead of looking for second-source suppliers, Apple is internally developing TDDI chips for its iPhones."
