Latin Grammys 2015: Nominees, Performance Lineup & More
This year's Latin Grammy Awards pre-gale event is set to be held at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The pre-awards gala will be held on Nov. 18 and will honor "Person of the Year" Roberto Carlos.
In a report with Billboard, Carlos, 74 is recognized as the top-selling Brazilian and Latin American act of all time. The Latin Grammy Person of the Year award pays tribute to the Latin American singer's "important artistic and social accomplishments to both Latin music and culture."
Carlos is hailed as a rock n' roll pioneer in South America, and is best known for his wide selection of romantic ballads. He has sold more albums in Latin America than The Beatles.
Entertainment Weekly reports that this year's Latin Grammy's will be hosted by Puerto Rican actress Roselyn Sanchez and Jacqueline Bracamontes. This will be the sultry singer-actress' first time to host the awards show and she said that the opportunity was still surreal and that she is excited for the music awards event which will take place on Nov. 19.
"I simply cannot wait for November 19th to have the honor to host the 16th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. To be able to celebrate the best of Latin music with our incredible artists is going to be one of the most memorable nights of my life," Sánchez said of her hosting gig at the music awards show.
"I appreciate the opportunity and I'm very much looking forward to having a fantastic time with my colleagues, friends and fans." Sanchez added in the interview with Entertainment Weekly.
The Latin Grammys 2015 will feature stellar performances from the nominees Juan Luis Guerra, J Balvin, Raquel Sofia and Matisse. The star-studded music awards night will be scheduled at the MGMG Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Additionally, four-time Grammy winner Will Smith will be joining Bomba Estéreo for a performance of their hit single "Fiesta (Remix). 'La Banda' celebrity host Ricky Martin also made the announcement that he will be making two performances at this year's musical awards show. The 'Maria' singer has three nominations at this year's Latin Grammys, including "Best Contemporary Pop Album" for his latest album A Quien Quiera Escuchar.
Sanchez had recently stepped down from her role to co-host Univision's Miss USA pageant following GOP candidate frontrunner Donald Trump's controversial statements regarding immigrants.
The Latin Grammys 2015 will air on Univision.
