MacBook Air 2016 & MacBook Pro 2016 Release Date & Price Already Set? Unique Specs & Features on Slate [Rumors]
Apple's MacBook Air 2016 and MacBook Pro 2016 are currently expected to be launched in 2016. Recent speculations, however, claimed that the tech giant's upcoming laptops will be released this year just in time for the Christmas season and Black Friday sales.
According to Yibada, discounts up to $800 given to past MacBook Pro models hinted at the imminent launch of the laptop's 2016 iteration. Apple Insider wrote that discounts are at $300 to $600 on the 15-inch MacBook Pro 2015 and up to $800 on 2014 models.
However, there are also speculations that the MacBook Pro 2016 will not be released this year in order to stay out of the in-house competition with the iPad Pro, which will be released in November, Yibada wrote. MNR Daily reported that a 2016 release could also be Apple's plan to "cut down costs."
The MacBook Air 2016, on the other hand, is expected to roll out before this year ends, Yibada added.
Decline in sales of Apple products also made the company reschedule their release date. According to Herald Sun, Apple was only able to ship 5.6 million units, which is their lowest amount of products delivered in two years.
MacBook Pro 2016 Specs Rumors
Christian Post claimed that the MacBook Pro 2016 will come in two variants: a model with a 13-inch screen and another with a 15-inch display. Both versions are expected to be equipped with Apple's latest operating system, the OS X El Capitan.
Other specs rumored for the laptop are: a better battery life, an improved Force Touch system, and a type-C USB port, Christian Post listed. As for the price, the smaller version could be bought starting at $1500 while the larger variant could have a $1699 tag.
MacBook Air 2016 Specs Rumors
A separate report from Yibada said that the MacBook Air 2016 will also come in two variants: one with a 13-inch screen and one with 15 inches. It will also be equipped with an Intel Skylake-U processor, Force Touch technology, enhanced battery power, Type-C USB support, the OS X El Capitan, and a thinner body compared to its predecessor. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 950 graphics card could be included as well.
Master Herald speculated that the MacBook Air 2016 will be priced around $899. It is not known yet whether this price tag is for the 13-inch version or for the 15-inch model.
Note that these are all speculations for now and Apple is yet to issue an official announcement about their upcoming laptops.
