‘Halo 5 Guardians’ Review, Limited Edition & Release Date: PC Version To Be Released? [Rumors]
Past reports suggested that "Halo 5: Guardians" will come to PC, but 343 Industries franchise director Frank O'Connor confirmed that the speculations are not true.
In a tweet posted on Oct. 23, O'Connor said that he has always given the same "noncommittal" response for years when asked if the game will have a PC version.
He wrote on Twitter: "I didn't 'mention' it, I was asked a question and gave the same noncommittal answer I've been giving to that question for ten years."
Xbox marketing executive Aaron Greenberg also said on the social media site that the franchise is being "made exclusively for Xbox One." When Greenberg's statement was compared to O'Connor's, the latter tweeted, "No he didn't, he said the same thing I did. It's not out of the question, but there's no plan at this time?"
"Halo 5: Guardians" will be released on Tuesday, Oct. 27, IGN reported. The installment comes with new features, which includes two protagonists: Master Chief and Spartan Agent Jameson Locke. Both characters are equipped with their own squads, Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris, respectively, GameSpot wrote. As the game progresses, users will be able to switch perspectives between the two to advance each team's narrative.
The game immediately takes place after the event of "Halo 4," GameSpot added. When a mysterious force called the Guardians terrorizes the galaxy, the renowned Master Chief goes missing, prompting others to doubt his loyalty. Agent Locke and his special unit are tasked to look for the lost leader.
New mission structures are incorporated in "Halo 5: Guardians," such as huge and open environments and "battlefields with higher enemy counts," as well as a more focused story and exploration, the news outlet added. The game, which can support up to 4 players, cannot be played locally and requires an Xbox Live Gold membership to play.
Brand new mechanics include a smart-link aiming system that allows players to zoom in with any weapon. Users can now use a thruster pack with a revamped mobility, along with using vault ledges, "slide on the ground while shooting, strike the ground to create a shockwave, and make a rapid dash to take cover or bash an enemy," GameSpot further reported.
In addition, there's the Requisition system for players who want to spend time in multiplayer mode. There are also new modes: a 4v4 Arena mode and Warzone, a brand new MOBA-inspired multiplayer mode and is a 24-player battle that merges elements of PvP and PvE, the news outlet noted. Moreover, the custom multiplayer map editor Forge mode is making a comeback as a post-release update in December.
