The People's Choice Awards 2016 will kick off the awards season next year. It is the only major awards show that gives fans the power to nominate and choose winners across multiple genres of television, movies, and music.

The PCAs 2016 will broadcast from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and will air on Wednesday, Jan. 6. 2016 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) on CBS, the awards show's blog wrote. For the seventh consecutive time, Mark Burnett will serve as the event's executive producer. Jane Mun and Fred Nelson are also executive producing, while Kimmie H. Kim will co-exec produce the show's telecast.

"Every year we set the bar higher on how we can deliver the biggest show that engages fans," said Burnett in a statement quoted by People's Choice's blog. "Last year the fans cast hundreds of millions of votes to choose the winners. In my seventh year we are looking forward to entertaining the fans and engaging them like never before."

Among those nominated for awards are Latino programs and artists. CW's "Jane the Virgin" once again nabbed a nomination for Favorite Network TV Comedy against "Modern Family," "The Big Bang Theory," "New Girl" and more, Latin Times reported.

Sofia Vergara is up for two nominations: Favorite Comedic Movie Actress and Favorite Comedic TV Actress, the news outlet wrote. Michelle Rodriguez is competing for Favorite Action Movie Actress, while Jennifer Lopez is vying for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress against Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet.

"Jane the Virgin" lead star Gina Rodriguez is nominated for Favorite Comedic TV Actress; "Grey's Anatomy" actress Sara Ramirez for Favorite Dramatic TV Actress; Christina Milian for Favorite Actress In A New TV Series for her work on "Grandfathered;" the cast of "Devious Maids" for Favorite Cable Drama; and Ana Ortiz for Favorite Cable TV Actress, the news outlet further listed.

As for the music category, former Disney darlings Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato are up against each other for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Pop Artist, Latin Times added. Mexican artist Miguel is competing for the Favorite R&B Artist category. Girl group Fifth Harmony has also nabbed the Favorite Group nomination alongside One Direction, Maroon 5, and Foo Fighters, among others.

The People's Choice Awards not only recognizes artists who have made their mark on TV, film, and music. The award giving body also honors those who have significant social media presence. Shakira is nominated for Favorite Social Media Celebrity together with Beyonce and Justin Bieber. Latino stars Lele Pons and Brent Rivera are up for the Favorite Social Media Star category, the news outlet wrote.
