Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge Release Date & Price Tipped! Subpremium Version Underway? Specs & Features Here [Rumors]
Reports say Samsung's new Galaxy S7 smartphone, expected to arrive early next year, will have a "sub-premium" version to accommodate users with lower budgets.
Rumor mills concentrated on the Korean company's upcoming Galaxy S phone continue to turn, with WCCF Tech citing information on the sub-premium model.
According to the report, the standard flagship device will be better than the recently released Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, both of which are powered by a 14nm Exynos 7420 processor.
However, the outlet also noted that the new Samsung device may not be powered by a single version of chipset.
Instead, the Samsung Galaxy S7 reportedly comes in three chipset variants, including Exynos 7422, Exynos 8890 and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 -- to make versions of the phone specifically for different markets, International Business Times reported.
While the outlet did not specify which markets are these, GSM Arena likewise cited rumors that speculate how at least one of the Galaxy S7 versions would be made into a "sub-premium" one.
According to the site, the designs for both premium and sub-premium versions have already been finalized in September.
"The premium model's Exynos chipset will reportedly house the processor and the modem on a single chip, while in the sub-premium handset they will be on different dies," the report read, speculating further that the former may actually be the recently benchmarked Exynos M1.
Of course, the site wrote a precautionary waiver that the info is not "100% certain."
Meanwhile, other specs of the Galaxy S7 cited by the WCCF Tech also include an upgraded camera, which is pegged at 20 MP matched with the trademark ISOCELL technology the Samsung.
The device is also expected to get an improved multimedia capacity, with the addition of the Sabre 9018AQ2M headphone amplifier system from ESS coupled with a 2 channel D/A audio converter.
This special multimedia feature would allow users to mix their music thanks to the additional harmonic distortion that supports up to -120dB.
These being said, the new Galaxy S7 is believed to have impressive entertainment features, as well as top-level performance, if the rumors they cited holds true.
Concept images in a patent application cited by Value Walk also reveal the Galaxy S7's never-before-seen design which entails a display that "wraps around at the top and bottom of the device instead of the sides."
The photos also show a device that would not sport a Home button, something Samsung's biggest competitor Apple is thinking about doing in their upcoming iPhones.
