'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Cast, Release Date & Trailer: Director James Gunn Leaks More Info On Movie Sequel via Facebook
Showrunner James Gunn treated Marvel fans with his first-ever live question-and-answer post on Facebook that particularly tackled the upcoming sequel to his brainchild, the "Guardians of the Galaxy."
Last week, a post in Gunn's Facebook page received some 11,000 comments after he initiated a Q&A with fans where he revealed many more juicy facts about the upcoming 2017 Marvel film "Guardians of the Galaxy 2."
In the Q&A session which lasted nearly 50 minutes, Gunn revealed which characters are going to be reprising as well as new ones who would debut in the sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn described the follow-up movie to the 2014 hit as "something a little bit in the vein of the first movie and also different."
"I'm not going to give names and I won't give numbers either, but there will be at least one new character," he answered when asked if there would be new characters in the movie.
He then proceeded to talk about Quill, Chris Pratt's character, explaining that "there will be no other humans -- humans being earthlings -- besides Quill."
This removed the possibility that another superhero from Earth or a team of superheroes like the Avengers-would be appearing the second GOTG film.
He further dismissed the idea of a Guardians-Avengers team up by saying: "Everybody seems so addicted to this idea of seeing a character mashed up with another character, and that's just not my interest."
"My interest is to tell stories that are deeper and better about the characters that we've already known. Even though I am adding characters -- one character, at least, in [Vol. 2], it really is about getting to know the characters better," he continued, adding that he has no intention on "mixing and matching characters."
However, Comic Vine reported how another Facebook user inquired whether Adam Warlock would make an appearance in the GOTG sequel, a question Gunn did not answer directly.
According to the filmmaker, fans would have to "wait and see," adding: "But, you know, you can't... everything's going to be different in the Infinity Wars."
This, says the outlet, implies that there is something more to the story than he is allowed to disclose as of the moment.
Another highlight of his discussion with fans is Groot who, as Gunn revealed, would remain a baby tree during the entire sequel, adding that Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) is not the biggest fan of the dancing plant.
