Samsung Galaxy S7 Specifications & Review: Smartphone to Copy Apple iPhone’s 3D Touch Feature [Rumors]
The next-gen release of Samsung is expected to sport a 3D Touch technology similar to that of the Apple iPhones.
CNet said it may be about six months prior to the release of the Samsung Galaxy S7 but rumors are now circling that it will have a screen almost the same as the iPhone.
A Weibo account revealed that the Korean phone manufacturer has reportedly tapped Synaptics to utilize their ClearForce technology for it to be able to respond to different screen pressure.
ClearForce technology, as per TechRadar, allow various "scrolling speeds, ways to unlock, gaming controls and much more depending on what pressure is applied."
It was added by CNet that this feature is much like the 3D Touch technology on the recent iPhone 6s instalment.
"Like 3D Touch, the future S7 would provide contextual menu options in response to light and heavy screen presses," added the same report.
Aside from this feature, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is also believed to have a 5.8-inch curved screen.
Earlier reports also indicated that upcoming releases from Samsung may sport some of the features present in recently introduced Apple devices.
Android Origin reported that the S7 may come with magnesium alloy, which is the same material used by Apple in its iPhones. It added that this material is great for "for dissipating the heat" and is also believed to be the strongest alloy.
It also noted that the the release of the next Samsung phones could be as early as January next year.
An earlier UberGizmo report noted that two Galaxy S7 variants (S7 and S7 Edge) are expected with one being powered by an Exynos chipset and the other by Qualcomm by next year.
"Samsung is said to be testing both models so it is possible that maybe at the end of the day, Samsung will end up choosing just one," UberGizmo said.
According to TechTimes, the Samsung Galaxy S7 may also be equipped with a 4GB RAM and will be powered by a 64-bit Exynos 3.5 GHz processor. For storage, the device could come with 32, 64, 128 GB variants.
The Galaxy S7 is rumored to have a 30MP rear camera and 10MP front camera.
"It will also have a new camera feature dubbed 'gigapixel' that will allow the user to capture images with more accuracy and clarity," TechTimes reported.
The new Galaxy S7 will also reportedly feature an "infrared sensor" that can accurately measure body temperatures of its users.
The device is expected to have different price ranges than its predecessor. The upcoming 32GB variant of the Galaxy S6 is projected to cost around $999.
