Nokia HERE Maps Download for iOS 7 Offline: Nokia Removes Maps App From Apple Inc. Store, Blames iOS 7 Platform

iOS users now have one less navigation app to choose from. Nokia has removed its HERE Maps from the Apple app store.

According to Nokia, the company pulled its app due to iOS 7.

"We have made the decision to remove our HERE Maps app from the Apple App Store because recent changes to iOS 7 harm the user experience," Nokia stated, via NokiaPowerUser. "iPhone users can continue to use the mobile web version of HERE Maps under m.here.com., offering them core location needs, such as search, routing, orientation, transit information and more, all completely free of charge."

People who try to visit the Nokia HERE Maps app on iTunes, for example, will receive an alert.

"The item you've requested is not currently available in the U.S. store," read an alert when trying to visit the app on Apple iTunes.

"Before it was pulled from Apple's App Store, Here Maps was a buggy app," noted Indian Express's Pranay Parab. "We tested the app on three Apple devices and it was unusable on all of them. The design of Here Maps on iOS was reminiscent of Nokia's Symbian operating system, while the Windows Phone variant has a much cleaner, modern look."

Nokia entered the maps app market following Apple's introduction of Apple Maps. The Apple navigation app was met heavily with negative reviews. Nokia took advantage and launched its maps app while Google had no navigation app for iOS 6. Over time, Google introduced its iOS 6-compatible Google Maps app, which is also available for the new iOS 7 platform.
