'American Horror Story: Hotel' News & Spoilers: Ryan Murphy & Brad Falchuk Speak About Upcoming Season
It's almost time for the next season of "American Horror Story" to begin, and this time, it's said to be sexier and scarier than ever. The upcoming season is set in Los Angeles, in an intriguing horrific place called Hotel Cortex, with Lady Gaga as the owner called "The Countess".
But besides Gaga and a slew of other characters set to give fans the chills, what else can we expect from the fifth story in the anthology series? Creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk had a sit-down with E! News and here's the latest scoop.
It will be reminiscent to Murder House, which was also set in LA. Murphy said that the two seasons are very similar as he was terrified of both of them. He shared, "I think it's very similar to season one in that the only two seasons that I've ever done --- and this is our fifth season --- that I was afraid were the themes of season one and the themes of season five. I'm terrified of hotels."
Falchuk felt the same, as well. He shared about the first and fifth season, "It pushes things a little bit harder...it almost feels more masculine, too. I don't know, I love it. I love season one because I thought it was so insulated and claustrophobic and this one I love because it's just so scary. Truly scary."
It's going to be twice as gory as the previous season. Murphy shared that the show went through an entire season's worth of fake blood only after five episodes, which should say something about what's in store.
All that blood is expected though, because, unlike many shows where there's a straight-up list of heroes and villains, AHS refuses to do so. As"Hotel" star Cheyenne Jackson told MTV in an interview, "everybody's morally ambiguous; all kinds of shades of gray."
Blood and gore aside, the creators credited their new leading actors for the sexiness. AHS doesn't shy away from sex scenes --- Rubber Man from "Murder House" and the snake sex from "Coven" were freaky enough. But this season's trio of Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer and Finn Witrock bring a lot of hotness on the show, not to mention group sex.
But what makes this season personal to Murphy goes far beyond sex and sins. He shared, "This season deals with the themes of family and addiction, both of which are personal to me."
