Sunrise has announced the perfect Halloween event for fans of "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin." According to Anime News Network, Sunrise is working with Azoland Pictures to release the first two OVAs, "Blue-Eyed Casval" and "Artesia's Sorrow," of the four-part anime series.
Fandom Post adds that the one-time anime showing will land right on Halloween night, October 31, 2015. The screening will start at approximately 6:00 pm in Los Angeles at the Downtown Independent Theater. To buy tickets for the show online, click here.
As expected, since it is showing in the Unites States, both screenings will be dubbed in English. "Blue-Eyed Casval" will run for a total of 63 minutes, while "Artesia's Sorrow" has a shorter runtime at 58 minutes.
So far, the only OVA released exclusively in Japan is "Blue-Eyed Casval." The first OVA debuted on February 28, 2015. Anime Consortium Japan began streaming the episode in both Japanese and English dubs on its premium paid service, Daisuki.
Brown Paper Tickets recalls that the first episode takes place around Universal Century 0068 at the Space civilization known as Side 3 of The Autonomous Republic of Munzo. Fans of the original anime will know that this episode acts as a prequel to the franchise's main storyline.
The first OVA covers the past of siblings Casval and Artesia, who are the main characters of the story. The siblings' father, Zeon Zum Deikun, is featured in the first episode. Zeon wants Munzo to declare independence from the Earth Federation Government, but suddenly dies while giving a speech to the Parliament.
Zeon's right hand man, Jimba Ral, starts to spread conspiracy theories that the powerful Zabi family was behind Zeon's death, reports the anime's official website. Ultimately, Ral takes Zeon's children back to Earth in order to escape the Zabi family.
"Artesia's Sorrow" picks up three years after the events of the first OVA. It is now Universal Century 0071 . Ral and Zeon's children are taking refuge in the home of Teabolo Mas, which is located on Earth. Zeon's children change their names to Edouard and Sayla to keep safe.
Meanwhile, in Space, the Zabi Family has complete control of Side 3, which has been renamed the Autonomous Republic of Zeon. The plot thickens when the Zabi Family go after Edouard and Sayla, which eventually leads to the separation of the siblings.
The second OVA has not been released in Japan yet. It will also be air for the first time on Halloween night in Japan across 15 theaters.
