Amanda Bynes Mental Health Update: Actress Spotted With Parents on Christmas Day

After consistently landing in news headlines for strange and erratic behavior for most of the year, Amanda Bynes is ending 2013 on a much better note in the care of her family.

On Christmas day, the 27-year-old actress was spotted taking a stroll outside with her parents, Rick and Lynn, and their dogs in Thousand Oaks, Calif.  She was wearing a black sweatshirt, jeans, pink sneakers and sunglasses, reports E! News.

The troubled star appears to be a lot healthier and happier since being released into her parents' care after spending months at a luxurious rehabilitation facility called The Canyon earlier this month.  Contrariwise, she shamelessly sported a messy platinum blonde wig in public and in court, shaved her head and had multiple run-ins with the law throughout the year.

She was finally committed to a psychiatric hospital on July 22 after setting fire to a stranger's driveway around the corner from her parents' home. She was also rumored to have been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

On Sunday, the former child star was photographed while shopping in Los Angeles, wearing a floral sweatshirt, grey skinny jeans and pink and purple Nike sneakers.  She topped it off with a pair of shades and long golden curls in her hair, reports Us Weekly.

Bynes, who is currently living at her parents' house in Los Angeles, spent a day in Disneyland with her parents and paid a visit to a fashion school in California since her release.

A couple of weeks ago, the former child star, who has expressed an interest in pursuing a fashion career, was spotted touring the Orange County campus of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.

Bynes is "now looking at various colleges with the intention of majoring in fashion design," said her lawyer Tamar Arminak. "She's mentioned before she's interested in creating a clothing line."
