‘Dota 2' 6.85 Patch Notes: Pros & Cons of the Modified Creeps, Items & Hero Abilities
The "Dota 2" 6.85 path was just released, in time for professional gamers to try out the changes in the game before the Frankfurt Major tournament this November. While most changes have received a warm welcome from gamers, others have not been so readily accepted.
Listed below are some pros and cons to the newly released patch for "Dota 2."
Pros
#1: Creeps Modifications
According to Youth Health Magazine, Siege Creeps are no longer buildings with the 6.85 patch. Korea Portal explains that Siege Creeps now behave more like normal lane creeps and can even be targeted by spells. Take note, however, that the magic resistance of Siege Creeps have increased to 80 percent.
#2: Upgraded Items
The official "Dota 2" website states that certain unit items, such as Aegis of the Immortal and Bloodstone, are now more similar to Bottle. These items self-cast by default. To target-cast, press control: Clarity Potion, Mango, Healing Salve.
Realty Today takes points out the changes made in two specific items, namely Heart of Tarrasque and Manta Style. According to Join Dota, heroes like Phantom Lancer and Anti-Mage can get indirect buffs from using these two items.
In particular, the Health restore ability of Heart of Tarrasque has increased from 3.25 percent to 4 percent, which could greatly improve a hero's ability to lay siege to a base or re-engage in combat. On the other hand, the cooldown for Manta's Mirror Image range/melee has decreased from 50/35 to 45/30. In addition, Mirror Image's mana cost has gone down as well from 165 to 125.
#3: Improved Communication Portals
A new feature has been added to the chat panel called "Neighborhood Channels." Realty Today explains that the new communication feature can be accessesed while the game is launched. Neighborhood Channels allows players to connect to other gamers within the game.
#4: Upgrades to Hero Abilities
One of the most welcomed changes that came with the patch are the upgrades to the abilities of heroes. For instance, Abaddon's Mist Coil cooldown was reduced from 5 to 4.5. In addition, the damage dealt by Abaddon's Borrowed Time Aghanim's Scepter increased from 35 percent to 50 percent.
Most of the changes that came with the 6.85 patch pleased "Dota 2" players greatly. However, some changes to the abilities of heroes, might have disappointed a number of gamers.
Cons
#1: Decrease Damage in Lina's Abilities
According to Realty Today, the damage dealt by Lina's Light Strike and Laguna Blade have been reduced. Light Strike's damage was decreased from 120/160/200/240 to 80/120/160/200, while Laguna Blade's damage went from dealing 450/675/950 damage to 450/650/850.
#2: Changes to Storm Spirit's Abilities
Storm Spirit's Static Remnant will now cost gamers 100 mana on all levels, which could significantly damage the hero's farming potential, notes Realty Today. In addition, Ball Lightning's basic mana cost increased as well.
