Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch Injures Hamstring in Game Against Chicago Bears

The Seattle Seahawks won on Sunday versus the Chicago Bears but their running back Marshawn Lynch exited the game early due to a hamstring injury.

NFL.com said Lynch was ruled out at halftime after he was able to complete 14 yards, his lowest output in a regular-season game. It added that the NFL player returned during Week 3 after a persisting calf injury.

According to an earlier Seattle Times report, Lynch was announced to participate in the CenturyLink Field game which was their regular season opener despite being listed as questionable due to his injury. The decision to allow him to play on Sunday was tagged by the team as a "gametime decision."

After his injury, the running back is still expected to return soon though the team has not released a definite timeline on when he will come back.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said in an ESPN report that the injury will not keep out Lynch for a long period of time.

"We've checked it all out and there is nothing to be alarmed by. So we'll just have to wait and see," Carroll explained.

He added that Lynch was also still dealing with his calf injury that lingered during the entire week.

"He has a sequence that he goes through to get ready to go. It's happened before where he just can't get into rhythm and get right and all that. So he had a calf [issue] during the week, and his hamstring kind of bothered him a little bit here today. But he just couldn't get ready. He tried to get out there and did a little bit of running and all but couldn't answer it in the second half," the coach added.

Taking Lynch's place in the roster were Thomas Rawls and veteran Fred Jackson, who both contributed to the 26-0 win against the Bears.

The New York Times also noted that newcomers in the team including Rawls, Jimmy Graham and Tyler Lockett also greatly aided in their victory. It added that Lockett was able to turn things around really fast taking the opening kickoff of the second half to a 105 yards for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, SB Nation said that there is not much expected from the team's running game with Lynch's absence.

It also said that it was also not clear how the running back sustained his injury.

"It's unclear if he sustained the hamstring injury at some point in this game or if his issues prior to the game were related and things simply didn't feel right when he took the field," the same report added.
