Terrell Owens NFL Comeback: Wide Receiver Reaches Out to Dallas Cowboys for Contract Deal
Former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens is planning to come back to the league and he would like to again join the Dallas Cowboys.
Fox Sports reported that Owens' appeal to the team came as the Cowboys suffered a string of injuries, including their key players Dez Bryant and Tony Romo.
In an interview with Rich Eisen, Owens said that his presence on the roster of the team would make a difference in their performance despite leaving the Cowboys in 2008, not in the best terms.
"We all know what happened when I was there, and there were some things said where it may have fractured the relationship between myself and Witten and Romo. The time has passed and hopefully they know that I've moved on beyond that and maybe hopefully they have. But for me, it's all about giving myself an opportunity. That's all I ever really wanted," Owens added.
According to Yahoo Sports, Owen's return to the league would actually be good in some ways since he could offer insight to young NFL players. It also noted that when he last played for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010, he was still able to catch 72 balls for 983 yards and nine touchdowns.
NBC Sports added that Owens' agent already called the Cowboys to inform them that he is interested in being part of the team.
"I'm not sure what the situation is. My name may have come up in the discussion as far as bringing me in. But again, a lot of people are going to factor in my age as far as why I can't play," Owens was quoted by the same report as saying.
During his two-year stay with the Cowboys, NESN said Owens was a "solid contributor" to the team so when he was released, he claimed that it hurt him noting that Romo had a hand in the decision.
But now the wide receiver seemed to have forgotten the hurtful experience saying that he has already changed.
"The time has passed and hopefully they know that I've moved on beyond that, and maybe hopefully they have. But for me, it's all about giving myself an opportunity. That's all I ever wanted," he added.
The Cowboys has yet to respond on Owens' communication, but fans are certainly waiting for it since his return could mean a lot for the team marred by injuries.
Aside from playing for the Cowboys, Owens also became part of the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Allen Wranglers and the Seattle Seahawks.
