Emilio Estefan Unveils 'We Are All Mexican' Music Video in Time for Hispanic Heritage Month [Watch]
Emilio Estefan unveiled the official music video for "We Are All Mexican" on Monday just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month.
The racist and xenophobic statements against Mexicans served as an inspiration for Estefan's creation of the anthem, which celebrates the contributions of Hispanic immigrants to the United States.
"We have so many problems, and they are talking about Mexicans being rapists and killing people. That wasn't right," the music producer told Fox News Latino. "We love this country. We don't take things for granted."
Estefan added that the song is about the immigrants' "love affair" with the U.S. and not about politics or Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, Fox News Latino noted.

A number of Hispanic celebrities were recruited by Estefan for the song, including Thalia, Carlos Santana, Pepe Aguilar, Shakira, Wyclef Jean, and his wife, singer Gloria Estefan, Billboard listed. It will also feature the reggaeton artist Wisin, radio personality Enrique Santos, and renowned Spanish-American chef José Andrés.
"There's a message being sent out to the world where people are giving opinions that are plain wrong," the Cuban-American musician said, as quoted by Billboard. "We need to lift up our pride and show the world what we're doing."
According to the song's description on YouTube's Estefan Channel, "We Are All Mexican" is a metaphor "symbolizing that we can all become the victims of racism and bigotry at any moment as Mexicans are experiencing in recent times."
Estefan said that he has known Trump for many years, and that the song "is not so much an answer to the real-estate developer turned Republican candidate as it is an answer to the sentiment that we've progressed [as Hispanics] and we need to let people know that," Billboard added. The business magnate referred to Mexican immigrants as rapists, drug dealers, and criminals when he announced his presidential candidacy.
The 19-time Grammy Award winner said that he intentionally released the single during Hispanic Heritage Month because it's a time when the community unites and recognizes the importance of Latinos to the U.S., Fox News Latino wrote. Hispanic Heritage Month kicked off on Sept. 15 and will end exactly a month later.
"[We] make great contributions to this country. We just want to be recognized and to say, 'Thank you,'" Estefan said, as quoted by Fox News Latino.
The music video also featured cameos from comedians Kathy Griffin and Whoopi Goldberg and actors Eva Longoria, Amaury Nolasco, Carlos Ponce, Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias, and Kate del Castillo, the news outlet listed. Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton and Guillermo Rodriguez from "Jimmy Kimmel Live" also appeared in the clip.
