Donald Trump on Carly Fiorina: 'Look at That Face!'
Donald Trump fired shots at rival Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina.
In a Rolling Stone article titled "Trump Seriously: On the Trail With the GOP's Tough Guy" penned by Paul Solotaroff, one passage stood out from the rest: a comment Trump made while a video clip in a newscast zoomed in on Fiorina's face.
"Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that?" Trump said out loud in a room while Solotaroff sat beside him, Rolling Stone reported. "Can you imagine that, the face of our next president. I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not s'posedta say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?"
Rolling Stone's interview and cover shoot with Trump was arranged way back in August. The issue is dated Sept. 24 and is set to hit newsstands on Friday, Sept. 11, CNN wrote. The business magnate's cover issue with the magazine came quite unexpected, given that Rolling Stone is known for its Democratic inclination. Its publisher, Jann Wenner, is a Democrat supporter.
"And there, in a nutshell, is Trump's blessing and his curse: He can't seem to quit while he's ahead. The instincts that carried him out to a lead and have kept him far above the captious field are the same ones that landed him in ugly stews with ex-wives, business partners, networks, supermodels and many, many other famous women," Solotaroff further wrote.
In an interview with Fox News, Fiorina refused to acknowledge host Megyn Kelly's inquiry about Trump.
"I think those comments speak for themselves," the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive officer told Kelly, as quoted by CNN. Fiorina said that she has no idea what Trump meant, but "maybe, just maybe, I'm getting under his skin a little bit, because I am climbing in the polls," the news outlet added.
A spokeswoman from Trump's camp refused to comment on the issue when the Rolling Stone quote surfaced on Wednesday evening, CNN noted.
According to The Guardian, Fiorina holds single figure leads behind Trump for the Republican candidacy.
Trump is also feuding with Kelly after the primetime host co-chaired a debate between the Republican frontrunners in August. In the discussion, Trump was asked by Kelly about his past statements about women, which included labeling them as "fat pigs" and slobs, The Guardian wrote.
Later on, Trump remarked that Kelly had "blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever" during her query of him, the news outlet noted. Trump has been absent from the Fox News Channel for two weeks now after criticizing Kelly, CNN wrote.
