'Agents of SHIELD' Season 3 Spoilers, Cast & Release Date: New Villain Coming?
Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." may see a new villain coming during its third season as the show's creators seeks to 'reinvent' the series with some massive plot twists.
A report from Screen Rant noted how the Marvel Studios-ABC TV series seem to be prepping up for an imminent expansion of the "Inhuman" mythology involving the super-powered humans or the so-called "Kree individuals" as introduced in the show's second season.
This has a ring of truth behind it considering how the Kree Stone, the source of Inhuman's powers, have made itself a force to content with after swallowing up Elizabeth Henstridge's Jemma Simmons in the Season 2's finale episode post-credits scene.
In fact, Jeff Bell himself, the show's executive producer, confirmed this to TV Line, saying that these 'aliens' continue to plague the Earth.
"These 'aliens' are popping up all over the world, without anybody to guide them, so there's a lot of fear and paranoia," he explained.
Bell further explained that in this upcoming new season, Constance Zimmer's Advanced Threat Containment Unit (ATCU) will continue to hunt the super-powered humans, thereby posing an increased risk to Coulton's and Daisy Johnson's (Chloe Bennet) efforts to keep relations with them stable.
"[The ATCU] really are against us, which forces our team to come together, whereas we were splintered last season," Bell further explained.
While there may be some questions on whether or not this 'unit' is based on the comic books, Screen Rant noted that a single familiar face may soon be seen in the TV series: Lash.
According to the outlet, Lash is an Inhuman who hunts down his fellow Inhumans and acts as a magistrate to the captured.
In the comics, Lash passes judgment on whether or not those who "transformed" are worthy of their powers.
According to Screen Rant, Lash's addition to AoS Season 3 as portrayed by former National Football League Matthew Willig will definitely provide plenty of conflict with S.H.I.E.L.D. as well as the "Secret Warriors."
The outlet noted that though the show initially pegged to be a spin-off from the second Captain America film "The Winter Soldier" remained just that in its first two seasons, its fans should expect some refreshing twists in the upcoming new season.
"Coulson, Daisy, and their forces get to focus on making the (increasingly dangerous) world a safer place, rather than having to fight amongst themselves," the report explained, adding that the show will continue to expand in the manner "that resembles a blend of X-Men and espionage/spy action."
