iOS and Android News: Over a Dozen WB Interactive Games on Sale for 99 Cents
Developer Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that they will be having a holiday sale on many of their most popular titles on both iOS and Android devices for a limited time. Over a dozen different titles will be discounted during the holidays, with most being offered for just 99 cents.
On the Apple Store side of things, many different games are being offered at $0.99, with only one (LEGO The Lord of the Rings) being offered for more money while on sale. LEGO The Lord of the Rings is being offered for $2.99, down from the regular price of $4.99. The list of $0.99 cent games on iOS devices includes Bastion, Scribblenauts Remix, LEGO Batman: DC Super Heroes, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, Batman: Arkham City Lockdown, Man of Steel, Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, Harry Potter: Spells, AdvenChewers, Midway Arcade Games, and Tapper World Tour.
This is an impressive collection of games spanning many different genres and franchises. In particular, fans of the LEGO series of games should jump at the chance to play the mobile versions and enjoy the ridiculous nature of Batman or Harry Potter acting out their adventures in exaggerated LEGO fashion. In addition, Bastion is one of the most critically-acclaimed downloadable games to come out on many different platforms, and at $0.99 is a steal on iOS.
Android users will not get as many games to download for a discounted price, but they still get some of the best games WB Interactive has to offer on the mobile platform. Scribblenauts Remix, Batman: Arkham City Lockdown, and Man of Steel are all now just $0.99 at the Google Play store as well as on Amazon.com. While mobile users who have an Android phone or tablet may have less options, these three games should provide plenty of entertainment for fans of the franchises they represent.
It will be interesting to see if other mobile game studios offer some of their games at a discount as the holidays get closer and closer. During Black Friday and Cyber Monday, many different mobile games and apps were offered both on iOS and Android at a discounted price, and some were even free temporarily. It would not be surprising for some mobile game and app developers to use this strategy again during the holidays.
