''Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials' Movie Trailer & Spoilers: New Clip Released! [Watch]
A new clip from the second installment in the James Dashner adapted series, "The Maze Runner" has recently been released, just ahead of its premiere this Friday.
The extended clip showed Dylan O'Brien's Thomas and his fellow Gladers (including Thomas Sangster and Kaya Scodelario) running away from Aidan Gillen's AD Janson, as they try to escape the building which they originally thought was their "safe haven".
The clip is short, but it did a good job on fanning the flames for those awaiting the film. However, before you see the next installment of "The Maze Runner" series, here are some things to remember before you head out for 'the Scorch Trials," as noted by MTV:
1) The Dystopian future where the story is set shows an almost uninhabitable earth, with melted ice caps, disappearing coastal cities, and a governmental body that decided to release a virus to kill off a big part of the earth's population.
2) The Gladers are a part of a massive social experiment designed to make a cure for the virus -- their common factor? They all seem immune to the virus.
3) The creators of the experiment are known to be members of an organization called WCKD, led by Patricia Clarke's Ava Page, who the Gladers originally thought of was dead.
"The Scorch Trials" is the second book in James Dashner's trilogy, which means that fans can't expect a wrap up in the film, and it will be followed by "The Death Cure".
Even though judgment is yet to be handed to the film, Forbes reported that "Scorch Trials" won't have to make $50 million at the opening to be considered a successful film. Post-apocalyptic stories tend to make a lot in the cinemas (think "The Hunger Games" and "Insurgent"). So as long as "Scorch Trials" make at least $40 million, it will already set records by being only the third film of September Box Office history to reach skyrocket sales.
The film stars Dylan O'Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Hong Lee, and Will Poulter, along with "Game of Thrones" actor Aidan Gillen and "Easy A" actress Patricia Clarke" and will open in theaters on September 18.
Dystopian films are making waves this past few years, with the first "The Maze Runner" and "Insurgent" films just released last year, which is as well considering that the hit series franchise, "The Hunger Games" is nearing its end. Are you ready to see what's next in this version of a dystopian adventure film?
