French Open 2013: Results, TV Schedule, Live Stream, Start Times for Day 4, Wednesday, May 29, 2013; Serena Williams, Roger Federer in Action
While some dreams of French Open glory ended on Tuesday, others continued in their quest to take the coveted title in Paris as the 2013 French Open continues on Wednesday.
No.1-seeded Novak Djokovic conquered the rain and the turf on Tuesday when he defeated David Goffin 7-6 (5), 6-4, 7-5 to move on to the second round of the tournament. American Jack Sock left one happy man in his French Open debut when he beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-2, 6-2, 7-5 while No.9-seed Stanislas Wawrinka defeated Thiemo De Bakker 7-5, 6-3, 6-7, 7-5. On the women's side, Marina Erakovic overpowered Great Britain's Elena Baltacha 6-3 6-0 to move on, while No.18 Jelena Jankovic defeated Daniela Hantuchova 6-4, 7-6.
Wednesday promises some key action when Gael Monfils takes on Ernest Gulbis. While the two have never played on the ATP tour, the match should be an interesting contrast pitting Monfils' staunch defense and Gulbis' relentless offense. Roger Federer, the second seed and another strong French Open contender, will clash with Somdev Devvarman. No.4-ranked David Ferrer will take on Albert Montanes in singles action.
Then on the women's side, world and tournament No.1-seeded Serena Williams will be in action when she takes on Caroline Garcia. Agnieszka RadwaÅska, the No.4 seed, duels with Mallory Burdette, who is coming off a big win against Donna Vekic in the first round of the tournament. Then in a look at two young stars in tennis, Madison Keys, 18, will take on 19-year-old Monica Puig. And Sara Erani of Italy, the fifth overall seed in the tournament, will meet head-on with Yulia Putintseva.
