Tim Tebow Gets Chance to Earn Spot at Philadelphia Eagles Roster, Gets Huge Support From Sylvester Stallone
A recent trade by the Philadelphia Eagles reportedly paved way for the team to make a spot for quarterback Tim Tebow.
New York Post said the Eagles traded Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals on Friday, a move which "cleared a roster spot for Tebow after he won a preseason competition for the No. 3 quarterback job."
In return, the Cardinals gave up a conditional seventh-round pick to the Eagles. The condition set for the 2016 pick is that Barkley should remain in the Cardinals roster for six games.
In addition, USA Today said this is Tebow's return to the NFL since the end of the 2012 season after he was signed by the Eagles in April seeing how he improved under the tutorship of coach Tom House.
It was also noted that Tebow and Barkley were up against each other for the quarterback job but the former performed better.
"It's a blessing to be able to play the game that I love. Sometimes when things are taken away, you realize how much you really love it, and sometimes you love it more after that. So it's not necessarily coming back, but the time away that makes you love it more," Tebow said in the New York Post report.
Tebow will reportedly play alongside Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez when the season officially starts.
A similar ESPN report discussed that Eagles coach Chip Kelly's decision to go with Tebow had something to do with what the quarterback can do with his offense.
"He showed that by running read-option plays in preseason games with Tebow and not with the other quarterbacks. And he showed it by having Tebow line up to attempt a pair of two-point conversions in the Eagles' game against Green Bay," explained the same report.
These moves by Kelly are considered ways on experimenting with Tebow's skills and what he can do to structure the offense of the team.
After the possibility of Tebow becoming part of the Eagle became clear on Friday, the Twitter world exploded with most people commending the team for the move, as per Philly.
"Tebow's gonna be an eagle. This is the greatest day ever," posted @mr_santorious on his Twitter page.
Some also expressed their plan to get Tebow shirts before the new season begins.
Aside from the millions of people supporting the quarterback, movie star Sylvester Stallone also expressed his "love" for Tebow.
Stallone told TMZ that the quarterback should start for the Eagles.
"How can you not like Tim Tebow?" he added as he was spotted leaving Cafe Roma.
