'Mortal Kombat X' New DLC 2016 News Updates: Characters, Skins & More to Expect
A new DLC for Mortal Kombat X has been confirmed and fans can definitely expect new characters, skins and a stage early next year.
Game Informer said Warner Bros has already vowed the accuracy of this report but failed to reveal any specific details.
Earlier, Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon teased on his Twitter account that four new characters will be added to the game aside from the characters earlier announced such as Tanya, Tremor, Jason Voorhees and the Predator.
This could be good news to gamers after the frustrating cancellation of the game on some consoles.
IGN noted that Mortal Kombat X was cancelled on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 because of not meeting standards.
"After months of development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has come to the regrettable conclusion that we cannot release Mortal Kombat X for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Please know our teams worked diligently to meet the quality standards set by the current-gen versions of the game," said Community Admin Yorick in a post on WB Games' community blog.
The admin, however, claimed that the team was not able to produce the quality expected for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.
"[We] are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned," added the WB Games post.
The developer advised those who pre-ordered Mortal Kombat X for PS3 or Xbox 360 to proceed to their retail location where they purchased the game for them to be able to get a full refund. This certainly broke many hearts of Mortal Kombat X fans.
The game was originally planned to be released by the middle of this year, but it got delayed to the latter half of 2015.
Last July, the Mortal Kombat X Predator DLC became available to users and enabled them to expand their roster after its launch on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC last April. The Predator bundle was reportedly pegged at $7.99.
In discussing the Predator release, PC Gamer earlier said that the gameplay trailer of the game could already offer gamers of its "intergalactic hunter in action."
"It's not really fair that the P-Man gets to use wrist blades, a spear, and a shoulder-mounted laser in what is ostensibly a fistfight. It's not that far out of line, but does he really have to use all three at once? That's some serious fantasizing right there. The kill on Jason at the end is a nice nod to the film, though," added the same report.
Along with the Predator offering, Warner Bros released the Klassic Fatality Pack for all Kombat players which included fatalities by Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya and Johnny Cage.
