Battlefield 4 News: EA Facing Lawsuits Over Glitch-Filled Game
Battlefield 4 has the potential to be one of the best new video games available on most platforms, but frequent bugs and glitches have tarnished its reputation. Now, those frequent bugs threaten to reek even further havoc on the game's publisher; EA Games is facing lawsuits and legal action due to the broken game.
Two separate lawsuits have been brought against EA Games concerning Battlefield 4. One, from Holzer Holzer and Fistel, LLC, concerns if EA Games mislead investors concerning the game's development and post-launch problems. The firm is specifically looking to determine if the publisher broke federal securities laws between July 24 and Dec. 4, 2013.
"The investigation focuses on statements issued during that time regarding the development and sales of the Company's Battlefield 4 video game and the game's impact on EA's revenue and projects moving forward," Holzer Holzer and Fistel, LLC said in a press statement.
In addition, Holzer Holzer and Fistel encourage EA stockholders who lost money on the company's stock in this time period to contact them so that they can be included in the lawsuit.
On Dec. 17, Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP, a firm that became notorious following their work in the Enron trial, is filing a similar lawsuit involving the same period in regards to federal securities laws. Specifically, they cite the fact that EA executives were able to hold back information about the game's status so that stock prices could artificially rise. Stocks for EA Games reached a high of $28.13 per share on Aug. 23, 2013 and allowed "certain of Electronic Arts' senior executives to sell their Electronic Arts stock at artificially inflated prices," according to Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd.
Battlefield 4 has been the subject of frequent patches and bug fixes as EA has tried to make sure the game is able to run smoothly across all platforms. However, these patches usually uncover even more bugs, so EA has had to constantly try and fix new bugs and glitches in the game. Examples include players being disconnected from online games, getting killed from one hit and being unable to access the DLC for the game despite downloading the extra content.
Look out for more news on Battlefield 4 right here as these lawsuits get moving and EA attempts to fix up the game and releases the planned DLC for the game in the near future.
