WWE Star Dean Ambrose Almost Attacked by Fan After Smackdown Taping [Watch]
WWE superstar Dean Ambrose almost fell victim to a violent fan who allegedly tried to lunge a sharp object on the wrestler during a Smackdown taping on Tuesday.
An initial TMZ report revealed that the incident happened right after the show in Providence, Rhode Island, where the attacker who was reportedly holding a sharp object "come right for Ambrose" from the audience.
Cageside Seats noted that a young male was spotted hopping the guardrail and running towards the wrestler from behind.
Good thing one of the security personnel was quick to take down the fan and slammed him on the ground.
It is still, however, not clear if there was really proof that the fan was holding a bladed weapon.
The wrestler was unharmed after the incident, but Cageside Seats said this raises a serious issue in the security of WWE athletes.
"In the territorial days of wrestling, such attempted attacks would be commonplace, except invariably it would have been the heel getting ambushed. Today, it seems like babyfaces are just as likely to be singled out for such senseless acts of aggression," added the same report.
This is not the first time a fan made the headlines as three weeks ago Roman Reigns got hit at the back of his head with a Money in the Bank replica briefcase by a wrestling fan at a house show in British Colombia.
Another similar event, according to Bleacher Report, was what happened to CM Punk in 2012 when fans tried to pushed him down the stairs.
"Somebody said, 'let's push him down the stairs. I got hit in the ribs three times. I was getting shoved and I was getting punched...Then I started getting tagged in the back of the head. Unfortunately, I lashed out in the heat of the moment and I apologize. I'm really just glad nobody was hurt," explained Punk in an earlier WWE report.
In 2002, Bleacher Report said that a fan also pushed the ladder while Eddie Guerrero was climbing during a match with Rob Van Dam. Guerrero was able to land on his feet and escaped any form of injury.
Aside from this fan experience, Miami Herald said Ambrose also expressed happiness in sharing a screen with actor Arnold Schwarzenegger during a commercial shoot for the upcoming video game "WWE 2K16" which will be out in October.
"That was crazy. I didn't know anything about it until I got there that day. 'Terminator' is one of my favorite movies. To do a complete reenactment of one of my favorite parts in the movie, working with Arnold Schwarzenegger and he is giving me the Terminator eyes. It was so surreal. It was so trippy," shared the wrestler in the Miami Herald report.
He added that the word "trippy" is the term he uses with his entire "WWE 2K16" experience.
