Sofia Vergara Joins 'The Brits Are Coming'! Cast, Production & More Details Here
Sofia Vergara has joined the cast of heist comedy "The Brits are Coming" starring Uma Thurman and Tim Roth.
Thurman and Roth portray a British con-artist couple, Harriet and Peter Fox, who escapes to Los Angeles to evade a huge debt they owe to a gangster, Irina (Maggie Q), after a disastrous poker game, The Hollywood Reporter wrote. In an attempt to win back the money, the duo seeks the help of their former associate, Sidney (Stephen Fry), who discreetly reveals the couple's location.
With the gangster now in pursuit of the two, they must find a way to obtain money by a jewel theft operation, which includes Peter's ex-wife played by Alice Eve and her new husband, Gabriel (Crispin Glover), the news outlet added.
Vergara, 43, is portraying Gabriel's mistress, Variety added. Also starring is Parker Posey as Gabriel's assistant, as well as Lawrence Leritz, Broadway World wrote.
The movie, which is currently filming in New York City, is directed by James Oakley ("The Devil You Know") from a script he penned with Alex Michaelides, the news outlet noted. Cassian Elwes, Robert Ogden Barnum, JC Chandor, and Dave Hansen serve as producers, Variety noted.
"'The Brits are Coming' is truly a wildly hysterical ride from start to finish and promises to deliver on the laughs with such a talented and diverse cast on board to inhabit these unconventional characters. I couldn't be more thrilled with this phenomenal cast in place, which elevates the production," said Barnum, as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter.
Fortitude International, co-founded by Nadine DeBarros, Barnum and Daniel Wagner, holds the international rights of the movie and will sell the project to the Toronto Film Festival. The producers, on the other hand, currently have the film's U.S. rights, the news outlet wrote.
Vergara currently stars in the ABC comedy "Modern Family," The Hollywood Reporter noted. Her latest big screen project is the female buddy comedy "Hot Pursuit" alongside Reese Witherspoon. The Colombian actress' other acting credits include 2014's "Chef," 2013's "Machete Kills," and 2012's "The Three Stooges."
Sofia Vergara Launches Coffee Bar
Vergara recently partnered with houseware company SharkNinja to launch its brand-new Ninja Coffee Bar, Us Weekly reported.
The bombshell was approached by the brand to "help create and develop a coffee machine that would extract full-bodied flavors," the news outlet wrote. Vergara had an important role in the development process of the caffeine device, which is now available for purchase at major retailers worldwide.
"When [CEO] Mark [Rosen] told me about their plans to create the Ninja Coffee Bar, I knew I had to get involved from both a personal and business perspective," Vergara said, as quoted by Us Weekly.
