'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Trailer & Cast: New 'Episode 7' Teaser Revealed! [Spoilers]
Makers of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" have finally answered the pleas of the franchise's fans with an epic 15-second clip that seems to suggest a possibly samurai-like lightsaber duel between Finn and Kylo Ren.
Lucasfilm and Disney proceeded with what Yahoo Movies dubbed as a "carefully choreographed rollout" of the intergalactic series' seventh episode.
And finally, on Thursday, the official Star Wars Instagram account unveiled the 15-seconder clip, captioned: "There has been an awakening... #StarWars #TheForceAwakens"
The footage is introduced with a familiar scene. General Hux (played by Domhnall Gleeson) and Captain Phasma (portrayed by Gwendoline Christie) assembled their legions of First Order Stormtroopers along their base on what looks like a snowy planet.
This, says the outlet, is an apparent replay of Andy Serkis's narration in the film's teaser released in November with a similar catch phrase: "There's been an awakening... Have you felt it?"
This time, however, the scene seemed to have a more ominous effect, particularly because of the generously added echo and soundtrack.
After that, the teaser then transitions into a never-before-seen clip that shows Daisy Ridley, who plays the film's heroinr Rey, and her robotic sidekick BB-8 looking very concerned while gazing upwards.
The video then follows the mood and fades to the movie's villain, Dark Side acolyte Kylo Ren walking along a snowy forest under very dim light.
He then halts and ignites his self-made scarlet crossguard lightsaber, readying for a duel with John Boyega's Finn who wields a blue-hued lightsaber.
During Disney's 2015 D23 Expo, Boyega hinted that his character would be seen firing up a lightsaber in the movie.
He said, "Yes, I have a lightsaber - and it is on. I can't say too much more about it, but I'm happy that the news is out there. How cool is that?"
This, says iO9, may be the exact same weapon originally owned by Anakin Sywalker and was handed down to Luke Skywalker by Obi-Wan Kenobi. The filmmakers may have already confirmed this in an earlier report by Entertainment Weekly.
Meanwhile, a theory from the iDigital Times explains that the Knights of Ren member and Finn may be preparing for a samurai-like duel typically shown in samurai movies where the adversaries "prove their mettle and technical proficiency" while slicing through thick layers of bamboo.
"Now imagine what you could do with lightsabers instead? I think these shots of Kylo Ren and Finn immediately precedes some serious tree chopping action," the report continued.
