Justin Bieber Look-Alike Found Dead in Hotel Room, Drugs Reportedly Found
Tobias Strebel, known to the public as Toby Sheldon, the 35-year-old man who spent over $100,000 to look like pop star Justin Bieber, was found dead in a Room at Motel 6 in San Fernando Valley last August 21.
Sheldon, who had been missing since August 18, was believed to have gone off radar due to a recent breakup with his boyfriend.
In his room in Motel 6, police reported to have found drugs but did not reveal actual cause of death.
After he was reported missing, Sheldon's friend Mel Espinoza told ABC7 that it is highly unusual for the aspiring musician to go missing, adding that "He hasn't done any, not shown up for no reason, no note or anything."
His spokesperson confirmed the news and told Mirror UK after the story broke, "I am beyond devastated to have heard the news about Tobias. Tobias was a kind, caring, and gentle soul that was dedicated and passionate to his music and career."
The spokesperson went on, "For all the slings and arrows put forth against him, he always held his head high, treated everyone with respect, and had a warmth and glow to him that made anyone around him smile... My condolences go out to his family."
The plastic surgery junkie, who Billboard said appeared on shows like "Botched" and "My Strange Addiction" was known for his love for the younger pop star whose appearance he called "extraordinarily beautiful."
He told "Botched" in 2014, as quoted by Variety, "What brought me to Bieber was the whole package: the full cheeks, the full temples, the bright open eyes, the full luscious lips and spacial framing. [He's] just extraordinarily beautiful."
In order to embody his idol, Sheldon also became an aspiring musician.
Last year, he hit the recording studio to lay down his first track. According to The Daily Mail, the hard-core Belieber declared that he was a "master" songwriter before he launched into a not-so-masterful rendition of one of his own songs.
In a clip for "Botched", he told the cameras, 'I do write and record my own music. The gift of writing music is not something you can learn. You have to have that inner creativity, you have to have something to say; you have to be lyrically gifted."
He later added, "You have to know what's catchy. It's just something I've come to master."
Unfortunately, his fans will never see the release of his full album.
