Huawei Nexus 2015 Release Date: Metal Phablet Beating Samsung Galaxy Note 5? Specs, Features & Price Here [Rumors]
Huawei is said to be onboard to carry Google's next Nexus flagship.
Rumors claimed that Google is planning to release two new Nexus mobile devices this year: a 5.2-inch smartphone from LG and a 6-inch phablet from Chinese OEM Huawei, Pocket-lint reported. Just recently, Google+ user Tiesen Fu has shared alleged photos of Huawei's device, and the snapshots match previous renders from uSwitch and @OnLeaks.
According to Ars Technica, the images bear the Nexus logo on its back and has a circle for fingerprint scanner above the label just like LG's Nexus smartphone. The photos also show a camera bump in a black strip that extends through the device's horizontal length.
The black strip showcases important sensors as well, such as a LED flash and mystery third sensor that seems to be the laser autofocus sensor present in LG's mobile devices, Ars Technica noted. The front part of the smartphone contains speakers on the top and bottom and on-screen buttons. It is said to come in with a metal build with plastic inserts.
Given that Samsung's new Galaxy Note 5 also comes with a metal chassis, Huawei's Nexus smartphone could be a competitor of the former in terms of body type.
Huawei's Nexus is said to measure at 159.4 x 78.3 x 6.6mm, with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution that would have a pixel density of 515ppi if proven to be true, Pocket-lint wrote. Speculations say that the device will come in black and silver versions.
Huawei Nexus Other Specs
Tech Gadgets also shared another batch of images claiming to be the Nexus device from Huawei. The photos showed a USB C-type port along with the Snapdragon 810 serving as its processor paired with 3GB of RAM (LPDDR4, Micron chip). It is expected to run using Android 6.0 Marshmallow, with 64GB of internal storage, Financial Express reported. Pocket-lint also wrote that the device will have 3,500mAh battery.
Android 6.0 M is said to be equipped with a fingerprint scanner support, Pocket-lint further added. The hardware is already present in Samsung Galaxy smartphones, and could have a role in future iterations of Android Pay.
Release Date & Price
It's too early to land on an exact release date for Huawei's Nexus, but Pocket-lint wrote that it usually launches by the end of the year. The smartphone's launch date could be in Oct. 2015, around the time Google unveils its Android 6.0 M.
PC Advisor speculated that the device will be priced around $470 to $550.
Keep in mind that these are just speculations and rumors at the moment and an official announcement is yet to be had.
