Boxing News 2013: Floyd Mayweather's Training Could Make Adrien Broner A Better Fighter

Adrien Broner could soon have a new trainer in his corner, and it will likely be the man who perfected the shoulder roll defense--Floyd Mayweather Sr, the father and current head trainer of pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Mayweather Sr. believed he can help Broner sharpen his shoulder roll defense and become a force in boxing once again.

In an interview with Hustle Boss, Mayweather Sr. offered his service to Broner, believing he's the only one capable of fixing his "flawed" shoulder roll stance.

"I can train him to where no one will be able to hit him at all," Mayweather Sr. said to Hustleboss. "I'm very interested in [training him] it, but he's got to be interested. What I've seen, I know I can change. It's time for him to make a change [in trainers]. He's not going to get nowhere with what he's got right now. He's not going to climb with that at all."

Is Broner Better Under the Tutelage of Mayweather Sr?

Mayweather Jr. is on top of the pound-for-pound ladder and dominated every single opponent he has faced with relative ease, not only because of his natural quickness and agility inside the ring but also his impeccable shoulder roll defense.

Fortunately for Broner, there are only two guys in the business who have in-depth experience training with Mayweather Jr: his uncle Roger and his father, Floyd Sr.

Mayweather Sr., who also previously trained Ricky Hatton and Oscar De La Hoya, advised Broner to change his training personnel for him to bounce back from a devastating unanimous decision loss to Argentine slugger Marcos Maidana Saturday.

Mayweather Sr., has had first-hand experience in improving the shoulder defense that will be beneficial for Broner, making him a more elusive and agile fighter than he has ever been.

Broner, who suffered his first career loss against Maidana, immediately asked Golden Boy Promotions for a rematch next year. However, he stressed the loss would never change his high-life personality at all.

"I'm OK. I'm still the three-time world champion in three different weight classes," Broner said during the post-fight conference. "Tonight, Maidana was just the better man, but we fought a hell of a fight. I hope the fans got what they deserved. ... I'm still going to live like we won the fight. I'm still going to party."
