Eagles QB Tim Tebow Receives Standing Ovation for Touchdown
The return of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Tim Tebow was received well by the team's fans who gave him two standing ovations on Sunday.
ABC News said Tebow played for his position on the team in a match versus the Indianapolis Colts.
Tagging it a "fun" game, the quarterback considered the Eagles 36-10 win a great experience especially with his comeback.
"Playing ball. I loved it. You want to be focused on footwork, reads, communication with everybody but also enjoy the moment. You won't always have it," he told ABC News.
When he entered the Lincoln Financial Field with a few minutes remaining in the third quarter, fans of the Eagles stood up and cheered for him.
"I was thankful. But I was also like, 'They [the Eagles offensive players] won't be able to hear me! We'll have to go [to a] silent [count].' It's very humbling. It definitely means a lot," he added.
During the fourth quarter of the game, he received another standing ovation when he scored a touchdown over Colts safety Winston Guy.
An ESPN report added that Tebow did not only make a touchdown but also led his team to two field goals during the game.
There were definitely some areas of concern on his performance but Eagles coach Chip Kelly said these are just results of him "playing with third-team offensive linemen and wide receivers."
"You have to look at who's in with who. A different set of receivers was in when Tim was in, and a different line at times. A couple of those, you're wondering, 'why is he doing that?' Well, the receiver ran the wrong route. There were a couple of busts out there," explained the coach.
For his part, Tebow told ESPN said he did some great things for the team especially with his completion of six of 12 passes for 69 yards.
"I think there's some things that we want to work on. For me, it's going back, watching film, looking at everything, trying to make corrections and get better one day at a time," the quarterback said.
Sunday's game was Tebow's first regular-season game since 2013 when he was still part of the New England Patriots.
He announced his comeback by signing a one-year contract with the Eagles last April, according to Sports Illustrated.
The quarterback, who is now fighting Matt Barkley for the No. 3 quarterback position, said in a CBS Sports report that he will continuously try to improve.
"We're just trying to get better every single day. And today was just one more step, trying to learn the offense, get out here live bullets are flying. I think we did some things well ... but this is just a learning opportunity. ... But it was also just a lot of fun to come out here and play," he said.
