Samsung Galaxy S7 Release Date: Holograms Finally Arriving? Price, Specs & Features Here! [Rumors]
Imagine being able to project 3D images using the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7.
According to Stuff, a holographic display is now being anticipated with the release of the Galaxy S7. "On a phone. Like, you know, 3D images in the air. In your hand," the outlet noted.
Expected to hit the market in December, the Galaxy S7 is said to feature such type of display -- a dream come true for manufacturers and consumers. With this upgrade, Samsung is reportedly gearing towards "tech interaction in more than two dimensions."
According to Patently Mobile, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office has published a patent application from the Korean tech giant, which reveals holograms being possible in phones.
"The mobile device includes a main body including a screen; a light guide member disposed above the screen; an entrance optical member disposed on a surface of the light guide member; and an image hologram disposed on a surface of the light guide member which is laterally spaced apart from the entrance optical member," explained Patently Mobile.
It added that when the part of the screen "corresponding to the entrance optical member" lets out light, a holographic image is then displayed. The patent is reportedly applied last year.
In terms of specs, the alleged successor of the Galaxy S6 looks to be armed with great insides.
Phone Arena reported that the handset bears the codename "Jungfrau," and is rumored to have a Qualcomm chipset.
The Galaxy S7 is also touted to come with a 5.5-inch 4K Super AMOLED display, TechTimes noted. In addition, the high-end device is allegedly equipped with 5G network support for faster browsing and better performance.
TechTimes also said that the Galaxy S7 may also come with 4 GB of RAM. For storage, the device could come with 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants. Its camera is rumored at 30 MP by the rear and 10 MP in front.
"It will also have a new camera feature dubbed 'gigapixel' that will allow the user to capture images with more accuracy and clarity," TechTimes cited.
Finally, it is believed to feature an "infrared sensor" that can accurately measure human body temperature.
The device is expected to have different price ranges than its predecessor. The 32 GB variant is projected to cost around $999.
Holographic images, when coupled with great features, would certainly make the Galaxy S7 a key player in the cutthroat smartphone arena.
