'Titanfall 2' Release Date & Trailer: 5 Biggest Things to Expect in PS4, Xbox One & PC Game [News & Rumors]
Now that "Titanfall 2" has been confirmed, fans are probably wondering about the tweaks and new features in the sequel.
Development Process
The follow-up was confirmed by "Respawn" founder and CEO Vince Zampella, who said that the game is currently in development, IGN reported.
"I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don't know anything about it, or... yeah. So we're working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we're working on that. That's the main focus but we're starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow!" Zampella told IGN.
Multiple Platforms
"Respawn" COO Dusty Welch also said that platform is one of the things that they wish to change in "Titanfall 2," IGN added.
Zampella admitted that the Xbox exclusivity deal made them limit the game's market, but he also said that their team had to push through with the agreement to be able to finish "Titanfall," Attack of the Fanboy reported.
"I felt we needed to do it. We were a small team starting from scratch. Not greed, it limited our market. +chance to finish," he said, as quoted by Attack of the Fanboy.
However, Zampella promised that aside from Xbox One, "Titanfall 2" will also head to the PS4 and PC, the news outlet added.
"That will be fixed," he said on Twitter in response to a gamer who said that the team "alienated" half of their fan base. "We want as many as possible to play our games!"
Expanded Lore
Zampella and Welch promised that they are planning the sequel to have an expanded role, IGN reported.
"Titanfall" is set in a far-away frontier ravaged by war, a separate report from the news outlet noted. Players are given an option between fighting as elite assault Pilots or nimble, heavily armored, 24-foot tall Titans.
Single-Player Option
"Titanfall" has a multiplayer-only approach. According to Zampella, they don't regret the multiplayer option, but they also plan to cater to gamers who prefer playing alone.
"I mean it obviously prohibits a certain group of people playing the game, and as content creators you want to get into as many peoples' hands as possible," he explained to IGN. "We put some single-player elements in there though, and tried to mix it up. Maybe we could have mixed things up a bit better because some people blew right by it and didn't even see it because there was so much action happening around it."
Release Date
"Titanfall 2" is expected to be released in 2016 or 2017, Attack of the Fanboy reported. The game's predecessor rolled out in March 2014.
