Naya Rivera on Pregnancy Comparisons With Kim Kardashian: 'Such a Shame'
Naya Rivera slammed claims that she is a copycat of Kim Kardashian over the two's recent naked pregnancy photos.
"I chose to share pregnancy photos because I think this is a very beautiful and special time in my life," Rivera wrote on her official Twitter page on Wednesday, August 12. "Media outlets know that when you give your photos and an interview to run a story you never get a choice as to when it runs."
"So trying to make something out of nothing based on stupid assumptions is awful. Such a shame," she continued. "Especially when it comes to a woman and her beautiful pregnancy journey."
The accusations about Rivera imitating Kardashian surfaced after the former "Glee" actress' Tuesday interview with Yahoo! Style, wherein she shared a nude pregnancy snapshot of herself. Hours before Rivera's photo was up online, the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star also posted a naked mirror selfie defending her pregnancy.
Rivera, 28, settled the issue between herself and Kardashian. On Tuesday, she re-tweeted a fan who said: "Instead of creating non-existent drama the media should be celebrating all the beautiful soon-to-be mamas."
This is not the first time that the two were involved in social media controversy. In Nov. 2014, Rivera commented on Kardashian's Instagram photo of herself posing completely nude for Paper magazine. A screenshot of Rivera's comment reads: "I normally don't. But ... you're someone's mother."
Kardashian's close friend, Jonathan Cheban, came to her defense and accused Rivera that she is using the TV personality's name to gather press, PEOPLE reported.
"After a year-long tour of impersonating Kim, she decided to come out of her shell and make a real statement about Kim's Paper cover (which has to be one of the hottest, if not the hottest cover all year)," he wrote on his blog, The Dishh. The post has since been deleted.
Naya Rivera Opens Up on Pregnancy
Rivera, now on her third trimester, recently talked to Yahoo! Style about the joys and struggles of being pregnant.
"It's such a change physically, mentally, and in terms of lifestyle, that I definitely didn't know what to expect going into it," the mom-to-be said of her pregnancy, as quoted by Yahoo! Style. "I have friends who are moms, and you hear stories and stuff, but it's never the same until you actually experience it yourself."
Despite her aching and bloated body, Rivera felt "ecstatic" because she could "see the finish line and it felt so good," she wrote on her official website. Rivera and her husband, Ryan Dorsey, announced her pregnancy on Feb. 24. The couple has not yet revealed their child's gender.
