Real Madrid Star Cristiano Ronaldo Walks Out of Interview! Find Out Why
Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo made the headlines after he left an unfinished interview with CNN with a shockingly honest statement: "I don't care about FIFA."
Ronaldo had intended to talk to CNN Español about the launch of his new line of headphones, just to be disappointed at how his interviewer, Andres Oppenheimer, asked him whether or not the members of the team he belongs to discussed the corruption crisis revolving around the organization.
"How is the corruption scandal at FIFA affecting playing on the field of play? Is it something that worries you?" Oppenheimer asked Ronaldo in Spanish, setting aside the interview's intended purpose.
The corruption issue Oppenheimer is referring to is an issue which CNN described as something that "has dominated media headlines."
"I do my profession, my job, I give my all for my club...the rest doesn't matter to me. I don't care what happens on the outside," the 30-year-old soccer player answered.
Ronaldo, who was recently injured during training according to The Guardian, declared that the top players of the sport prefer to talk about things that do not involve the organization.
"You want to know the truth? We don't speak about it at all.... We talk about other things. About women, about fashion, about shoes, about suitcases/bags, about jewelry, about haircuts," he told Oppenheimer, asking him if the interviewer wanted Ronaldo to make a list of the things that surface during locker room conversations.
But, unfazed by the sarcastic comment, Oppenheimer still push on with his line of questioning and even brought up the controversial decision to award the hosting of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar set for December 18 during an executive meeting held in Zurich, Switzerland back in March.
That questioned seemed to be the last piece of straw that led Ronaldo to lose his temper.
Someone had been trying to correct the flow of the interview from the background but it was too late.
Ronaldo burst and criticized how the Oppenheimer framed the interview using very colorful words in English.
"This is bulls-t. Speak about FIFA, I don't care about FIFA. And Qatar...I don't give a f-,"Ronaldo exclaimed.
"What you want me to do? Speak about product, he speaks about FIFA...come on," before walking out from the studio.
