Ronda Rousey Supremacy: Why Rowdy Belongs to the Greatest Fighters of All Time

There's no denying that Ronda Rousey is one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time.

The latest testament to this is her 34-second victory against Brazilian fighter Bethe Correia in Rio de Janeiro last Saturday.

Yahoo Sports said that Rousey now belong to the ranks of heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko, Anderson Silva and Jon Jones.

With her 12-0 record and winning her last three fights in 16, 14, and 34 seconds respectively, the female UFC champ is deserving of the "greatest fighter" tag.

"Rousey, though, hasn't heard such talk, even though with each time out, it's becoming increasingly clear she deserves it. The way she's going, though, she'd probably be favored in a match against a hungry grizzly bear," added the Yahoo Sports report.

According to CNN, the American MMA fighter has dominated a sport once led by male athletes. This year, she bested Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the ESPY and took home the Best Fighter recognition.

Aside from her Octagon victories, Rousey also reportedly made history in the Olympics before becoming a UFC superstar.

Her New York Times profile revealed that she was favored to be he first American to win the Olympic medal in judo a few years ago.

"She won a silver medal at the 2007 world championships. Her second visit to the Olympics in Beijing in 2008 went better. She took home a bronze medal and became the first American woman to earn an Olympic medal in Judo," added CNN.

But Yahoo Sports said that another reason for Rousey's greatness is possibly "the lack of other elite talent in her division."

It also explained that this could just be an easy answer to her fame and dominance but inside her is "an amazing athlete."

Demolishing trashtalker Correia became an easy task for Rousey as she knocked her out on the first round of their battle. Rousey displayed great talent, control and professionalism despite Correia's repeated attacks on her and her family, even bringing up her father's suicide.

After her recent victory, ESPN said that a fight with Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris "Cyborg" Justino is not far from happening though the latter's weight remains an issue.

When asked about this possibility, Rousey said that she is ready to take on any battle.

"I'm prepared to deal with anything, that's why I'm the champion. I fight in the UFC, in the 135-pound division. She can fight at 145 pumped full of steroids or she can make the weight just like everybody else without them," Rousey said in the ESPN report.

The UFC bantamweight champion touched on Justino's positive steroid test last December 2011 which the Invicta champion blamed on her dietary supplement.

On her Instagram account, Justino also seemed to be prepared for a war versus Rousey.

"To be a champion, I think you have to see the big picture. It's not about winning and losing; it's about hard work every day and about thriving on the challenge. It's about embracing the pain that you'll experience at the end of the race and not being afraid. I think people think too hard and get afraid of a certain challenge," Justino said.
