PS3 Release Dates for Minecraft, Final Fantasy X and X-2 Announced
While many have shifted their focus from the PlayStation 3 to the PlayStation 4, the previous generation of consoles still has many new games coming in the months ahead. Now, the release dates for two of the biggest upcoming games, Minecraft and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Collection, have been revealed.
Minecraft, the most successful indie game of all time, will be released on to the PlayStation 3 on Dec. 17 in North America and Dec. 18 in Europe after being exclusive to PC, Xbox 360 and mobile devices, according to IGN. The news should excite those with the Sony console who have been left out of the global phenomenon. The game has already sold 33 million copies so far, and that figure will go up sharply once the PlayStation 3 version of the game is available.
The PlayStation 3 version of Minecraft will feature all the content available on the other versions of the game, and new texture packs and character skins should be launched shortly after the game's release date. The game is also expected to hit the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita at some point in the future as well.
While Minecraft will be available very soon for PlayStation 3 owners, the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Collection will not be available until the spring of 2014. Square Enix announced that the game will launch on the PlayStation 3 on March 18 in North America and March 21 in Europe. The PlayStation Vita version of the collection will also be available on the same day. Both PlayStation 3 and Vita versions of the collection will feature both Final Fantasy X and the game's sequel on one disk.
The collection will feature a remastered soundtrack and HD graphics also feature some original content for the classic games that will change the way the games ended. The collection was originally planned to be released by the end of 2013, so this new release date indicates that Square Enix may have had a setback with porting the PlayStation 2 games to the PlayStation 3.
These games represent some of the best games available for the PlayStation 3 in the coming months, and both are highly recommended for those who have yet to play either Minecraft or Final Fantasy X or Final Fantasy X-2.
