'The Legend of Zelda' Wii U Release Date: Nintendo Moving Game's Arrival?
Nintendo has recently released its earnings report for the first fiscal quarter, and fans of "The Legend of Zelda" are alarmed that the Wii U release date for the beloved game is still set as "TBD".
This is the same status from the company's previous quarterly report, as reported by Wired.
According to the site, many writers decided that "TBD" indicates that the game is still not arriving by 2016.
Of course, the game schedules indicated things that the company already announced, which means that if the game is slated for 2016, it is intended for 2016 - except that it does not have a specific release date yet.
At the E3, Destructiod reported that Shigeru Mityamoto said, "We have some really great Zelda footage and, at some point we will be showing that off, but not today."
However, he confirmed, "Zelda is still coming to Wii U, so don't worry about that."
According to Game Informer, it is unclear how much time the company needs to complete "The Legend of Zelda."
With a "TBD" status, many already think it's not going to appear in 2016 either.
Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales and marketing, Scott Moffitt assured fans that "Zelda" is definitely coming.
He told iDigital Times, "We confirmed that a Zelda game, a new Zelda experience is in development for the Wii U and we have our team hard at work on that."
He went on, "We want that to be the best Zelda experience. Fans have been waiting for and deserve a game when it's ready, when it's fully featured and when it can live up to what we would like to deliver."
"The Legend of Zelda" has already been seen in public twice, the International Business Times reported.
The first was at the E3 2014 Trade show, and then at the Games Awards in December the same year. The delay prompted speculation from gamers that "Zelda" may as well skip the Wii U edition and move on to the next gaming hardware from the company: Nintendo NX.
What fans can expect from Wii U, however, are the 3DS games.
Nintendo announced that among the ones fans can expect are "Hyrule Warriors Legends", "Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam", "Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest", "Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright", "Bravely Second: End Layer", "Metroid Prime: Federation Force", and "Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games".
