Microsoft Windows 10 Price & Download: 5 Things to Know About the 'Best Windows Ever'
Microsoft's latest operating system, the Windows 10, was launched to the public on Wednesday, July 29. Technology analysts dubbed the OS as an "all-everything" deal from the tech giant after the negative response of the public to Windows 8, which removed the Start button menu and showcased a new layout.
Windows 10 comes with new features and performance enhancements. Listed below are the most notable of them all.
Digital Assistant
Windows 10 comes with a new voice-activated digital assistant called Cortana, which can help users look for something on the Internet quicker, ValueWalk reported. Some reviews say that Cortana hasn't reached Siri's standards yet, but the former has a huge potential.
New Desktop Features
Microsoft's new OS also makes organization in desktops easier with the Task View, a feature which allows users to switch between opened files and "new desktops they have created," ValueWalk wrote. This way, efficiency and productivity are improved.
Aside from the Task View, Windows 10 also enables users to create separate desktops for every project, the news outlet added. The feature can make finding a file or app in a crowded desktop easier.
Microsoft Edge Browser
Windows 10 is equipped with a new browser called Edge, which is a vast improvement over Internet Explorer. According to ValueWalk, the browser allows users to write notes on a webpage and easily share content with others.
Integrated Xbox App & Other Noteworthy Features
The new OS also comes with an integrated Xbox app, which will allow gamers to integrate their Xbox gaming experience with Windows 10.
According to Microsoft, Xbox's integration with Windows 10 brings "your friends, games, and accomplishments across Xbox One and Windows 10 devices."
Aside from these features, Windows 10 also provides the Companion Phone app, which syncs your iPhone, Android, or Windows 10 with a device containing the new OS, Microsoft wrote. In addition, there's the Windows Hello, OneDrive online storage, enhanced Windows Defender and Smart Screen, new Office Mobile apps, and Continuum, which lets users experience apps excellently across touch and desktop modes.
Release Date & Price
For the first year, Windows 10 will be available for free for those users currently using Windows 7.8 and 8.1, Bidness ETC wrote. The new OS will first roll out in Windows Insider Program, with Microsoft distributing copies to retailers by July 30. The news outlet pointed out that the OS will be made available to users at 12 AM in each of the 190 countries the corporation is supplying at the moment.
According to Arc Technica, Windows 10 will cost around $119, while the Pro version will be priced at $199.
